Hayman Reese 244Kg (550 lb) weight distribution hitch with 30.5 inch bars. Load Equalisers sometimes called stabilisers are very effective at correcting these problems, if used correctly. To calculate which equaliser should be used, add the weight of the caravan to the weight of the luggage in the car boot.
Excessive weight on the towball will also make the rear of the car too low and take pressure off the front wheels, thereby making steering less effective, and potentially very dangerous.
Pitching and tail sway in caravan towing is usually due to bad balance of the caravan. Ideally the caravan/trailer should 10 to 15% of its weight onto the tow ball.
FeaturesAdjustable Head that fits the square Hayman Reese shank,
2 x 31.5" Spring bars with attached chains,
2 clamps to attach to A-Frame
Clips, Bolts & Other hardware - parts and instructions.
Standard Shank
The Standard Shank gives vertical range as per diagram, Where: Range up = +60mm to +160mm Range down = +55mm to -45mm For greater range, but missing centre position, see offset shanks. (we also have one kit without a shank).
SpecificationsThis set will distribute weights up to 550 lb.( 244kg)
The Spring bars are 30.5" long. This measurement is used to determine where the brackets on the A-Frame get mounted. Measure from the centre of the towball (or coupling) along A-frame. (there is an alternate part number that includes 28inch spring bars). Purchase the set that does not obstruct other A-Frame fittings.
